Why can't I just clean up a sewage backup myself?
Because it's a genuine health hazard. Sewage contains bacteria and pathogens that become airborne and soak into porous materials. Without proper PPE, containment, and disposal, you risk your health and spread contamination through the home. This is one to leave to crews with biohazard protocols.
What has to be thrown out after sewage contact?
Porous materials that absorbed contaminated water — carpet, pad, drywall below the line, some insulation and contents — generally can't be safely salvaged and are removed and disposed of properly. Hard, non-porous surfaces are cleaned and sanitized. We make those calls by protocol, not guesswork.
Is it covered by insurance?
Sudden sewer or drain backups are often covered, sometimes under a specific backup endorsement. We document the loss and handle the claim — and we'll tell you straight what we're seeing on coverage.
How discreet is the cleanup?
